August 2005

Is it over yet?

8/1 Monday

New cigarette tax in effect. What a FUCKING joke! My nasty habit is paying for people who dont have health insurance after the goverrnor STOLE from the MN Care surplus... Where is the outrage?

Ugh I have a photo meeting to go to but its hot as shit out...

8/2 Tuesday

So the news from the photo meeting was that Kodak announced the end of production of black and white film and paper. Its a sad sad world. The granddaddy of the photographic industry is shrinking. They are no longer developing new types of color film either. Its the beginning of the end of a tradition.

Now we enter the age of disposal high end digital cameras. As I look into my future as a wedding photographer, I do not see how I can make money with the constant need to upkeep my equipment. I still have so much to buy... *Sighs*

8/3 Wednesday

Hung out with Melanie. Her paintings are turning out beautiful! And they are progressing nicely. I’m so proud. She is good inspiration, and good for conversation.

8/4 Thursday

Rough day because everything went wrong. I couldnt even sleep.

8/5 Friday

IM thankful its Friday. Plan to jam with my drummer tonight. I think I am just starting to understand the Korg. Next I need a MIDI recording device. What fun. I can make music for my site!

I’m normally so visual, its nice to be musical again. I still remember sheet music and all from the days when I played flute, oboe, and keyboard. Those are funny memories. But I do have some basic music understanding. And I like to play BILEstyle, so thats easy easy loud shit.

8/6 Saturday

I had to pick up the Mickeys peice. It didnt make it into the State Fair. Damnedfuckingbastards&(*$#^&(@*!

Went to the Walker Art Museum to see the Chuck Close show. I’ve always been a fan of him, but had only seen a few of his work in person in a few museums around the country. He’s a weird talented man. I am amazed at his impressionistic realistic painting. From afar, some of his work looks like big photographs.

The rest of the museum was *yawns*. I’ve been in the art world for awhile, and I still wonder some days how some of that shite gets in there. But I did see some great art, and texture, and concepts. What a nice day.

My only problem is invasion of personal space. I am not a fan of people getting near me. I do sometimes have weird panic attacks when people get to close. One guy even touched me to get me out of his way and I almost lost it. Why? Do I need a neon says that says Do Not Touch!

8/7 Sunday

Busy busy. Played the keyboard. Cleaned the house since my dad is coming into town. Ran errands. Went to a barbeque and played with the 20D.

Worked on the new CC site. That will be my new professional website. Now I need to go through the last 3 years of work and find the professional stuff. Weddings, portraits, architecture...... But I got the title layed out, wondering how I will code it.

As I write this the monitor is changing colors every once in awhile. I know its not my eyes. This is not good.

8/8 Monday

[Missed Entry]

8/9 Tuesday

How many more have to die for the greedy corrupt power hungry Christian right? They whine and bitch about porn and abortion and gay rights, yet the main commandment is ignored. Where is the outrage over the murder in other countries? I guess they turn a blind eye for certain thigns, but cant on other issues.

Listening to Jack Off Jill

8/10 Wednesday

When will it be time for a 3rd major party in American politics? Our government is beyond corrupt, money is the only thing that matters. It’s a shame.

8/11 Thursday

Last minute cleaning. I’m exhausted.

Listening to Mr Bungle.

8/12 Friday

Took the day off to relax, do errands, and clean. Stopped by to check on Melanie. Paintings are progressing nicely!

My dad came into town from Virginia this the afternoon, and as always it was good to see him. I took him to the Irish Fest to see Flogging Molly, and even though it is kindof mellow for me, it was too intense for him.

8/13 Saturday

Had a wedding to shoot in the middle of fuckign nowhere.

Came home, had about 30 mins to relax, then I took everyone out to Acme Comedy Co to see Arj Barker. I fucking love that guy. And I always have to talk to him after the show. I know another stupid chick fan, but I really respect his comedy and delivery style!!!!

Listening to Juno Reactor

8/14 Sunday

Relaxed, BBQ, shot a few family pics, played volleyball….

Listening to nothing.

8/15 Monday

Actually a cheery Monday. What a surprise. I was even cheerful after finding out that my job has seriously changed objectives… Maybe I will be watching Career Builder even closer….

Evening was still riddled with chores. Dropped by the studio and talked with one of the photogs. I’m becoming one of the gang, its cool. We talk shop.

Listening to The The “Mind Bomb”

8/16 Tuesday

I have been playing more music lately in the basement. I guess I have been taking a visual break for something different. Though I am realizing that I visualize music. I learned to read and write music in middle school to high school. When I hear and play music lately I can see it. Does that sound weird?

It made me think about the different ways people interpret and experiences in life. How do you experience music? Do you feel it, hear it, rationalize it, or see it? Can’t these questions be applied to even more?

I hate when I go on these mind trip tangents in my head.

Long story short, I am writing music again. Just like riding a bike I remember it all. As simple as it is, its creating something. An outlet is good to vent in.

Watching Aqua Teen Hunger

Meatwad: “I promise I wont do it again, I promise. Okay, watch out, I’m gonna do it again.”

8/18 Thursday

Got some much needed sleep!

8/19 Friday

Been slacking. Dads back in town.

8/20 Saturday

Did some historical sightseeing. Its disgusting what the white man did to the Indians. Minneapolis was a beautiful piece of land, with many lakes and waterfalls…. But the night ended late at Red Savoys. I love that place. Best pizza in all of MN.

8/21 Sunday

Went to some museums and walked around St Paul. What a lovely day. The beginning of fall is my favorite time of the year. I miss my dad. Sometimes I wish I didn’t live so far away, but then again I loathe Virginia and the South, so its hard for me to get there to visit… At least I have a surrogate family here.

8/22 Monday

Got to work alone today, what a great day!

Oil prices are beginning to get scarey and there is no end in sight. I am so glad I bought my car. I was thinking of trading it in for a newer model, but I see the sticker prices are higher now for fuel efficient cars. What a joke. Glad I bought it last year.

8/23 Tuesday

Been playing as much music as I can. Need a good beginners book to refresh my memory. Maybe a chord chart… Though I will never be as good as the Dresden Dolls or The Faint… but its fun to try.

8/24/05 Wednesday

Recently while talking with 2 different female artist friends we have been talking about artist grants… I need to get my shit together. But I need money to print my silo pictures… Maybe I should try to get into an art show like the Bicentennial, maybe get some exposure… ugh. I Hate thinking about these things cuz I stress out… But if I blow it off, Im losing out.

8/25 Thursday

For work today I was taken up in a helicopter to take aerial photos of St Paul. It fuckin rocked!!! Its something I have always wanted to do, arial photography. Unfortunately it was hazy, and we couldn’t get airspace to fly over the city…. Oh well. Maybe some other time….

I’m exhausted. What a rush, being in a junker helicopter, hanging your camera out a small window… hehehehehe…. I need a shower and a nap!

8/26 Friday

Recovering. Hung with Mel.

8/27 Saturday

A birthday party led to a late night of poker. Got a good portrait of a friend with a bloody nose. Was a good night.

8/28 Sunday

Saw the Aristocrats. Good shit!

Took pics of a friends truck. Would love to freelance shooting old classic cars. Even though this one is more of an extreme mod. What a piece of art .

8/29 Monday

Made the mistake of turning on the local evening news to see footage of Louisiana in the hurricane. What a joke that was, some local LA reporter was with a cameraman during the storm, and all the MN local news was playing that footage over and over. Ugh. Back to the Assoicated Press.

8/30 Tuesday

Hope Kevin is okay in New Orleans. I never realized the city was that unequipt to go through a hurricane. Wish I could have gone there, I always wanted to. I mainly wanted to see the cemetaries there....

So another catastrophe knocks down production from the oil refineries, and gas prices might sore. So glad we are so still so dependent on oil. Youd think we could have modified the combustable engine by now to be a little more efficient. What are our scientists and engineers doing?

Took more pics of Eric's Truck. Actually impressed myself with a few of them.

8/31 Wednesday

Looters and hoodlums start chaos in New Orleans... Makes me start to think about my own protection. We are so used to the easy way of life we have these days. What if our chimp president really pisses off the wrong people and they attack us. Should I make sure my basement is stacked with supplies?

Gas prices reach $2.99. What a joke. Another story in the news today : Poverty rates in the US reach a high of 12.7%

Quote of the day “I just look at repulicans as fascists and democrates as commies.”

Wow, the end of summer begins.
